I'm Still Alive

This is one of my latest pages. I've slowed down a lot, but I'm still doing a page here and a page there. This one is of my mother in law with my daughter. The background paper is some cool, funky stuff I got at Dollar Tree. The background to Nana is from DCWV MatStack. The pearls holding it up are Marcella K- picked up for $1 at Big Lots. The lettering is a combination of fonts for the Xyron. The small flowers are Prima GotFlowers (clearanced at Target for $1.74) and the large flower is Heidi Swapp.

Happy belated birthday, Paola!

New Pages

Yes, I'm still alive and I have done a couple of pages. This first one is one that I'm really proud of. I spent forever looking at it, thinking that I didn't have anything to work with, and it just got really slowly pieced together.

The paper is DCWV Old World Stack with some tinted vellum over the lower right corner. The top left is a rub on transfer from Bohemia (I LOVE Bohemia from MME). It says "A Boy's Life -Discovery- Adventure- Fun. The fibres, I got off of eBay and attatched them with metallic brads in different colours. I used the same brads to attatch the flowers to the page. The larger parts of the flowers are Bazzill Wings and the smaller ones are Prima Got Flowers. The chipboard at the bottom is Memories.

Oh, and that really terrible tape underneath the vellum- that's Scrapbook Adhesives' Vellum E-Z Runner. It's the most overpriced piece of crap tape I've ever purchased and after doing this page, I've started just using it for normal pages, where I can hide it.

This second page also took a while because it actually has a lot of details that aren't super obvious. The letters were all done with the die cutter in different fonts. The ribbon is JoAnn essentials. The paper is also from DCWV Old World Stack (I LOVE that stack). The letters have all been blotted with ink of different colours to give it more depth and kind of a "dirty" feel. Finally, the green piece circle at the top is actually the outter piece of a spool of ribbon. I pulled it off and covered it in green StazOn ink then threaded the ribbon through.

Memories.com

I recently made a purchase from Memories.com. The site was somewhat easy to navigate around and I found what I was looking for at an incredible price with VERY reasonable shipping. Specifically, I got a new XYRON font book, new for just $25. Shipping was $4 and some change. All in all, I got a brand new font book for just under $30.

Placing the order was a bit complicated as the night I was trying to order, there seemed to be a problem with the website. I sent the order through twice, but it didn't work either time. I was pleased to find an email in my inbox in the morning, aknowledging the error and asking me to resend the order if I still planned on purchasing. Very nice.

So I went back through the process, though the font book was still in my cart (thank goodness). The process was pretty easy and my product was shipped via regular old, first class mail.
I placed my order on the 20th. It was shipped on the 21st. And I received it on the 23rd! Very nice.

The book came in a large box full of styrofoam "popcorn" (shame on you for destroying the environment!). The book was sealed up in a plastic box which looked as though it had been hanging in a store for some time: there was dust build up on the top of it. There were two price tags on the back: one indicating the original price and one indicating the sales price- both of which were much higher than what I had paid!

All in all, I am VERY happy with my purchase. Shipping was quick, ordering was easy. Their customer service handled problems in a timely manner and were very polite. I will definitely keep memories.com bookmarked and recommend it to all my friends!
